United issues a new statement regarding Anthony's position
Manchester United issued a new statement regarding the position of its Brazilian player Anthony, who is involved in an ethics case.
Manchester United's statement on Sunday read as follows:
Manchester United admits the allegations against Anthony.
Players who did not participate in international matches are scheduled to return to training on Monday. However, it has been agreed with Anthony that his return will be postponed until further notice in order to address the allegations.
As a club, we condemn acts of violence and abuse. We recognize the importance of protecting everyone involved in this situation, and acknowledge the impact these allegations have on survivors of abuse.
As the player responded via his Instagram account, it came as follows:
I agreed with Manchester United that I would have a period of absence to respond to the accusations against me. This was a mutual decision to avoid distraction from my teammates and unnecessary controversy for the club.
Brazilian Anthony revealed what happened to his ex-girlfriend, Gabriella Cavallien, and defended himself against the allegations of two women who claimed he tried to attack them.
Anthony was excluded from the Brazil national team roster, and Manchester United also issued a statement regarding the investigations.
Anthony told the Fofocalizando program: “This is what happened. I left the training session and went back to the hotel where my girlfriend was. We had lunch and talked normally and calmly.”
He explained, "I felt upset when I told her that I had to go because I had things to do, and that's when the argument started. I was sitting on the bed. She grabbed my face and then turned over and smashed a cup and plate and attacked me."
He added, "At this moment, I grabbed her and did not pressure them or do anything. I asked her to calm down three times."
In response to her head injury, he replied: “No, I did not hit her in the head, I did not hit her at any time.”
Problems continued to haunt Anthony, as the Brazilian newspaper Extra claimed that a woman named Raisa de Freitas filed a complaint against the player in May 2022 and said that she needed hospital treatment after she was with him and another woman after visiting a nightclub in Sao Paulo.
A third woman, Ingrid Lana, claimed that Anthony pushed her against a wall and attempted to sexually assault her when she visited his home last October.
In response to Lana's accusation, Anthony said: "Negative. I am 100% sure that I have never touched any woman. 100%. I am confident. I will provide evidence and people will understand. They will see the truth."
In response to a question about whether he had assaulted any woman: “Never, I have never, and I will never do that.”
He concluded with tears evident in his eyes when asked if this would affect his career, answering: “Absolutely not. My dream is to return to the Brazilian national team, and for the country to see that Anthony is innocent.”
What happened?
Gabriella Cavallien, the former girlfriend of Brazilian Anthony Anthony, the Manchester United player, continued to provide new details regarding her accusation of the player assaulting her.
Investigations into Gabriella's accusation against Anthony are continuing, and no official decision has been issued yet.
Gabriella revealed in statements reported by the Brazilian UOL network: “Anthony tried to hit me in the face with a glass and closed the door of the house and did not allow me to leave.”
She continued, "He broke my hand and they took my passport from me. His mother and stepfather even surrounded him inside a football field, as he owns a football field inside his house surrounded by a fence."
And she concluded her remarks, "At that time, Anthony tried to get out of the stadium in any way, threw a soccer ball at me, threw the phone at me, and promised to kill me and that he would kill himself."
Gabrielle posted two pictures of herself claiming that she was injured during Anthony's assault on her.
