His agent: Klopp is not available for the position of Germany national team coach
Liverpool coach Jurgen Klopp rejected the opportunity to coach the German national team for the second time, after the dismissal of Hansi Flick a few days ago.
In March 2021, Klopp rejected the possibility of taking over as coach of the German national team, succeeding Joachim Loew, who announced his departure at the end of the team’s journey in the Euro 2020 tournament.
Mark Cusick, Jurgen Klopp's agent, said in statements to Sport Show magazine: "Klopp's contract with Liverpool is long-term, and he is not available for the position of coach of the German national team."
The German magazine's report explained that Hans-Joachim Watzke, Vice President of the German Federation, tried to convince Klopp of the idea of training the German national team, to no avail.
The two have a strong relationship, as Vatxe has been president of Borussia Dortmund since 2005, and dealt with Klopp, who coached the team from 2008 to 2015.
More than two years ago, when Loew announced his departure from the German German national team, Klopp said in response to the possibility of leaving his position as Liverpool coach in order to take over the leadership of the German national team: “If the question you are asking is whether I am available for this position, the answer is no.”
He added in a press conference: “Joachim Loew has done a wonderful job over the years, and there are a large number of German coaches. I am sure that the German Federation will find a good alternative.”
Loew, 61 years old, led the German national team for 15 years in 188 matches in all competitions, winning 120, drawing 37 and losing 31. He won the World Cup once and the Confederations Cup once.
Klopp stressed at the time, "I will not be available as a potential coach for the German national team. I have 3 years remaining in my contract with Liverpool."
He concluded, "It's simple. When you sign a contract, you have to abide by this contract. I did that with Mainz and Borussia Dortmund."
In addition, the German national team defeated France, the runner-up of the 2022 World Cup, in a friendly match with two goals to one in the match that witnessed the presence of Rudi Fowler at the head of the technical leadership of his country, Germany, temporarily, following the dismissal of the team’s technical director, Hansi Flick.
Germany hosted its rival, France, at Signal Iduna Park, home of Borussia Dortmund.
Thomas Müller opened the game's goals in the fourth minute.
Leroy Sane added the second goal for Germany in the 87th minute.
Antoine Griezmann reduced the score for France with a penalty kick in the 89th minute.
This defeat is the first for France since the defeat against Tunisia in the third round of the 2022 World Cup.
France leads Group B in the Euro 2024 qualifiers with 15 points, six points behind Greece and the Netherlands.
Euro 2024 will be held in Germany next summer.
