Ancelotti after the fatal victory over Union Berlin: We do not give up until the end

Ancelotti We don't give up until the end

Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti praised his team's spirit and not giving up after the late win against Union Berlin

Real Madrid defeated Union Berlin with an unanswered goal on Wednesday at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium in the first round of the Champions League in Group C.

The only goal of the match came in the fourth minute of stoppage time.

Ancelotti said in a press conference after the match: “We do not give up until the end. We expected a match like this, as Union Berlin defended very well. The spirit of our team is wonderful. Everyone who wears a Real Madrid shirt must have this spirit.”

He added, "We performed well on set-pieces and pressed them hard. We could have scored at the beginning of the match, but it is important that we score even at the end. The spirit of the shirt is faith until the last minute."

He explained, "The difference in performance between the two halves? We just fixed things. In the second half we were better because June Berlin pressed less. We focused more during the second half. We know that the Germans score many goals from set pieces, but we worked very well."

He continued, "We have a competitive team that can compete in all tournaments as we have the required quality."

He continued, "Bellingham? He has quality and luck, because he played in the same way against Getafe. When he advances from back to front, he is more dangerous than others and he benefits from that."

Jude Bellingham continued his hobby of scoring goals with Real Madrid and snatched a fatal victory for his team from the teeth of Union Berlin.

Regarding the duo of Modric and Kroos, he explained, “The veterans’ issue is complicated but good, as we have a wonderful team. Everyone can help at any time in the matches.”

Regarding Manchester City being the first candidate to win the championship, he said: “Saying that a certain team is the first candidate to win does not add or subtract anything for anyone.”

Jude Bellingham scored the only goal for the Merengues, bringing his number of goals to 6 during the current season.

Napoli and Braga are present, along with Real Madrid and Union Berlin, in Group C.
